Welcome to the Deep South FemTech Association
Reimagining Women’s Health Innovation in the Deep South
We are building a dynamic regional alliance that brings together stakeholders across sectors to advance women’s health through innovation, entrepreneurship, and community-driven solutions. Our work spans Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, and South Carolina.
Alabama (45th), Louisiana (37th), and Mississippi (51st) rank among the lowest states for women’s health outcomes (Commonwealth Fund, 2023).
Little data exists on FemTech startups and funding in the South.
Few regional trend reports, metrics, or investment trackers.
High demand but low FemTech saturation creates a wide-open space for growth.
What We're About
To advance women’s health innovation in the Deep South through tech, research, and entrepreneurship.
A future where the Deep South is recognized as a leading region for women’s health innovation—where technology, research, and entrepreneurship come together to improve care, expand access, and accelerate breakthroughs across every stage of life.
Founded in 2025, the Deep South FemTech Association™ is a regional initiative strengthening women’s health innovation across Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, and South Carolina. We convene FemTech founders, public health professionals, wellness providers, researchers, educators, healthcare systems, legal advisors, investors, policymakers, and mission-driven organizations to drive tech-enabled solutions that improve access, quality, and outcomes in women’s health.
What We’re Building
As the Association grows, we aim to become a regional hub for:
Supporting innovation through strategic partnerships, joint ventures, and collaborative research
Facilitating capacity-building for founders and professionals working at the intersection of health and technology
Creating STEAM education pipelines to expand the future workforce in FemTech
Hosting convenings, trainings, and workshops focused on women’s health challenges and digital solutions
Producing regional insights, metrics, and reports that inform policy, investment, and systems-level change
What We Are
A professional network for FemTech founders, healthcare innovators, and advocates
A catalyst for solutions in reproductive, hormonal, sexual, and chronic health
A launchpad for community-driven, cross-sector collaboration across the Deep South
A movement grounded in action, impact, and regional leadership in women’s health
Why Now? Why the Deep South?
Alabama (45th), Louisiana (37th), and Mississippi (51st) rank among the lowest states for women’s health outcomes (Commonwealth Fund, 2023).
Maternal mortality in the region is double the national average, reaching up to 58.1 deaths per 100,000 births.
Black women face 243% higher maternal mortality compared to white women in the Deep South.
The U.S. FemTech market hit $15.22B in 2024, and is expected to grow to $37.35B by 2034, with the U.S. leading 48% of global FemTech investment.
Direct-to-consumer apps, wearable tech, and remote care are growing rapidly—unlocking new models of access for rural and underserved areas.
FemTech companies and funding data in the South are limited, revealing a need for regional metrics, trend reports, and investment tracking.
With low FemTech saturation and high women’s health needs, the Deep South remains under-researched and under-resourced in the innovation space.
Growing interest from accelerators and VC firms targeting southern and southeast startups.
Early-stage FemTech ventures in Georgia, Florida, and Louisiana are already gaining national visibility through platforms like Femovate and SCBIO.
With the right infrastructure, the region can drive next-gen innovation in reproductive, hormonal, chronic, and preventive care.
